授業の目的 ／Class Purpose |
この授業ではディプロマポリシーの中でも (1) 実践的で高度な外国語の適用できる (2) 言語の基礎にある多様な社会、文化、歴史、政治、経済などについて幅広い知識や教養を身に付けることができる (3) 教養現場で効果な英語に関する体系的で専門的知識と指導法を習得することができる ことを目的としている。 In this course, basic writing skills and understanding of grammar will be improved. Compositions will give practice in writing on a variety of themes. Since the class will be conducted in English, the ability to understand basic instructions and guidance given in English will be improved. |

授業の進め方 ／Method of Instruction |
The class will meet twice each week. On Tuesdays, students will work on projects in small groups. These projects are aimed at developing skills in English communication and composition. On Fridays, students will read English texts and complete comprehension tasks related to these texts. In addition, they will take part in free writing and essay writing, based on themes introduced in the texts. |

Attendance and active participation in each class is mandatory. Students are expected to use only English in the classroom. (1) 課題については必ずGCSquareを確認すること。 (2) 授業のEnglish Central 課題は、教科書の確認コードからの個人アカウント登録が必要になります。他人とコードを共有したり転売から購入すると課題が出来なくなる可能性があるためご遠慮下さい。 |

授業時間外に必要な学修内容・時間 ／Required Work and Hours outside of the Class |
Homework for Tuesday classes will involve preparation for project work and will vary each week, to be notified in class by the instructor. For Friday classes, homework will involve previewing texts, and preparing and reviewing writing tasks. Students should expect to spend approximately 60 minutes each week to complete this work. |

成績評価方法・基準 ／Grading Method・Criteria |
Tuesday classes: 30% for assignments; 10% for submission of worksheets; 10% for participation. Friday classes: 15% for free writing tasks; 15% for essay writing tasks; 10% for comprehension; 10% for participation. Assignments will be assessed according to a rubric. Free writing and essay writing tasks will be assessed according to their completion. Participation will be assessed according to active participation in class. |
