授業の方法 ／Class Format	対面授業（演習)：英語のコミュニケーション能⼒を伸ばすため、積極的に参加し出来るだけ多く発⾔すること。
授業の目的 ／Class Purpose	Understanding Culture and Language は共通教育リテラシー科目群外国語分野に属し、共通教育リテラシー科目群外国語分野に属し、全学部（グローバルコミュニケーション学部英語コース以外）から選出された学生のみを対象としたクラスである。その中でも，海外留学を目指す学生のためのクラスである。生きた英語を身につけ、相手の意見をしっかりと聞きながら理解できる能力を身につけることを目的とする。また、文化や言語についても英語で深く学び、それらを発信できるスキルを身につける。この科目は、全学DPに示す「獲得した知識や技能を活用し、国内外において、価値観や意見の異なるさまざまな人と議論し、学びを深め、協働して社会に役立てることができる」を目指す。

授業の進め方 ／Method of Instruction	.クラスのアクティビティに積極的に参加し、⾃ら積極的に質問に答えることが求められます。このクラスでは英語で効果的にコミュニケーションを取ることを⽬指します。そのためにも、出来るだけ多く英語を話すように⼼掛けて下さい。
履修するにあたって ／Instruction to Students	共通教育リテラシー科目群外国語分野に属し、全学年（グローバルコミュニケーション学部英語コース以外）から選出された学生のみを対象としたクラスである。 Students are expected to actively participate in class activities and answer their own questions. The aim of the class is to develop listening and communication skills. Students are encouraged to speak English as much as possible.
授業時間外に必要な学修内容・時間 ／Required Work and Hours outside of the Class	Students should spend 20 minutes reviewing the material from the previous class. Students should spend 20 minutes previewing the material for the following class. Students should prepare for any course assessment with additional review of the target language studied. Further instruction and feedback will be given in class. Homework is set at the discretion of the teacher.
