Developing scientific and appropriate decision-making skills in a systematic study program with freedom to choose the subjects.
The Faculty of Economics has three departments, namely, the Department of Economics, the Department of International Economics and the Department of Business
Administration.
Within the Faculty of Economics, students can take classes that are offered by the Faculty of Law.
Taking into consideration the student's individual interests and goals, an individualized yet systematic study of Economics and Business Administrations
is introduced. This allows a considerable degree of freedom, thus giving the students the opportunity to decide which areas interest them most.
The aim of the Faculty of Economics is to develop the students ability to evaluate a never ceasing torrent of information from both Japan and overseas,
and to make appropriate judgments based on that information. Seminar classes consisting of a small number of students are aimed at developing their communication and perceptive skills, thus providing the
opportunity to look at things from a broad perspective and with a long term viewpoint.
Department of Economics
The aim of this Department is to provide students with a specialized knowledge of economics in a systematic and analytical manner.
Basic subjects such as Basic Economics, Micro Economics, Macro Economics, History of Economic Doctrines, Statistics, Economic History, Economic Policy,
Public Finance, Money and Banking, International Economics and Social Policy are offered. Other choices include a variety of specialized subjects. This allows the students to develop their scientific and
decision-making skills thus preparing them to become productive members of society. It is the aim of the Department of Economics to instill not only theoretical skills but also practical skills in the students
that will enable them to become future leaders not only in the business field but in other fields as well.
Department of International Economics
The aim of this Department is to provide students with knowledge of international economics. There is a special emphasis on the internationalization of the
business world and the vast global economy, so those students can prepare themselves to become creative and productive members of the international community.
Basic subjects such as Introduction to Global Economy, International Economics, Study of North American Economy, Study of Asian Economy, International
Comparison of Enterprise Systems, International Comparison of Human Resource Management, Theory of Economic Development and Theory of Technology Transfer are offered. Other choices include Trade Theory, Theory
of International Finance, Theory of International Investment, Theory of International Cooperation and a variety of other specialized subjects. This allows students to gain an overview of the current world
economy and the surroundings of international business scenes with analytical skills based upon contemporary economic theories. In addition the Department also offers students opportunities to improve their
PC-operation and English conversation skills so that students can cope with issues and problems in international networking activities. It is, therefore, the aim of the Department of International Economics to
instill not only theoretical knowledge but essential practical skills as well !
Department of Business Administration
The aim of this Department is to provide students with a knowledge of basic business structure and to prepare them to become creative and productive members
of the business community.
Basic subjects such as Basic Management, Business Administration, History of Business, Information Processing, Management, Marketing, Modern Enterprise
Theory, Labor Management, Management Science, Basic Accounting, Financial Accounting and Management Accounting are offered. Other choices include a variety of specialized subjects. This allows students to gain
an overall perspective on the flow of capital goods, money, information and personnel in a practical manner. They are taught how to analyze problems that have resulted from the development of new technology, as
well as information systems, and international networking activities. It is the aim of the Department of Business Administration to instill not only theoretical skills but also practical skills in the students
that will enable them to become future leaders not only in the business field but in other related fields as well.
