Portrait of Dr Mizoguti

The history of our Foundation, Kobe Mori Gakuen, began in 1912 with the establishment by Mrs. Wasa Mori of a small academy called the Mori Sewing School for Girls. In order to realize her educational ideals, which were to bring up girls who were independent in social life and able to contribute to the community, Mrs. Mori provided from her own finances, the funds required to establish this school and, as the principal of this school, devoted her whole life to women's education. Her enthusiasm soon made the school well known in the community and thus the Mori Sewing School for Girls developed quickly, eventually becoming Kobe Mori Girls' High School. Further, in 1952, Kobe Mori Women's Junior College was established, to raise the level of women's education.
Her son, Dr. Shigeki Mori, inherited the same dedication to bringing up the young generation and held the firm belief that the more opportunity in higher education for young people, the better prospect for Japan's social development. He started to establish Kobe Gakuin University in 1966 and worked hard day and night to overcome enormous obstacles to found the University.
Kobe Mori Gakuen Educational Foundation is the umbrella organization that operate Kobe Gakuin University, Kobe Gakuin Women's Junior College, and Kobe Gakuin Girls' High School, and is responsible for the educational activities in these three schools. The principal educational goal of our Foundation is to bring up young people who will be able to contribute richly to our society.
As the chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Foundation, I will continue my efforts to promote the highest level of research and education in Kobe Gakuin University. It is my sincere hope that all the newly matriculated students of Kobe Gakuin University will enjoy the comfortable academic environment, and fully develop their potential under the guidance of the excellent teaching staff.
