Fostering the Development of Cosmopolitan Citizens with a Broad Perspective
Kobe Gakuin University is located on a hill which commands a view of the world's longest suspension bridge, over the Akashi Straits. Kobe Gakuin University
was founded in 1966. An institution's value of existence as a university is now closely scrutinized by our society in all areas, and a university must be an institution that carries forward its unique academic
tradition for future generations.
Kobe Gakuin University has been directed by successive presidents to follow the philosophy that has guided it since its foundation (described on the first
page of this profile). The goal of the university is to provide students of five faculties and six post-graduate schools with a broad base of academic knowledge, while at the same time allowing them an
opportunity to conduct in-depth study and research in specialized fields, and to develop their intellectual, personal, ethical and practical capabilities. Moreover, we feel that this learning process must be
carried out with an international perspective.
At present we have various international programs for the promotion of a world-wide perspective in the university. In conjunction with these programs,
Kobe Gakuin University is willing to accept qualified students from abroad. We believe strongly that overseas students are given a unique opportunity to achieve impressive academic goals in their fields of
specialization under the capable guidance of our dedicated faculty members, while at the same time deepening cultural and social exchanges across national boundaries, thus contributing to mutual understanding
between our respective countries. In this way Kobe Gakuin University will strive toward the future to foster in students an awareness of their own national culture tempered with a broad, international
viewpoint.
