授業の目的
/Class Purpose
PURPOSE: The purpose of this subject is to have students acquire the basic concepts of and knowledge of International Society (Culture) in English speaking environment as well as the power of communication to work with people who speak a language other than Japanese cooperatively. The aims correspond to the diploma policy No.1, No.2 and No. 3 of the Faculty of Global Communication. 

From the diploma policy of the Faculty of Global Communication. 

In order to acquire the diploma of the course,  
1.students must  learn to communicate fluently in the target language students are learning (English)
2. students must learn to communicate with other people so that students may work with them cooperatively.
3. students must learn to acquire sufficient knowledge of the society, culture, history, politics, economics, etc. of the region where the target language (English) is spoken.

/Class Objectives
GOALS: After taking this class, students

1) will acquire the basic concept and knowledge of cultural studies,
2) will be able to communicate in English fluently with people whose mother tongue is not Japanese,
3) will learn to cooperate with people in the international environment using English effectively, and
4) will learn to cope with various tasks in the international setting by communicating effectively in English.

/Method of Instruction
CLASS MANAGEMENT: Style of the learning/teaching in this class will vary according to each subject to be dealt with. However, in most cases, students will experience a so-called "active learning" style, preceded by a tutor's introduction of the subject.

FURTHER NOTE: Below is just the sample of the first 15 classes of the Cambridge University program. These types of classes will continue for 5 weeks.

*STUDENTS ARE NOT ALLOWED TO LEAVE THE COUNTRY WHERE CLASSES ARE OFFERED. THIS APPLIES  TO ALL PROGRAMS FOR THE ENGLISH COURSE.
*研修中に研修実施国から離れ外国に行くことは一切許されません。これはすべての研修先において同じです。研修先で授業が実施されない期間に日本から家族の方が来られた場合でも、一緒に研修国以外の国に出かけることは一切許されません。 
授業時間外に必要な学修内容・時間

At least 60 minute study time will be needed outside the class for each class hour.

Students will be frequently asked to submit reports and challenge presentation. Online activities will be also assigned. Feedback for these activities will be offered at each tutor's office.
